River/Lake Road Roundabout

The BCD Group Traffic Engineering team were engaged to complete the intersection transformation designs for River Road / Lake Road, to support increased turning traffic movements accessing State Highway 1 (Waikato Expressway).

With a new exit from the Waikato Expressway that now directs traffic through this intersection the traditional stop signal control was no longer an appropriate solution to allow traffic to safely and effectively flow. The team designed the new road layout, including roundabout to cater for forecast increased traffic which will allow motorists to safely navigate this intersection, whilst minimising delays and promoting more efficient traffic flow.
