Lake Serpentine located off SH3 south of Ohaupo is one of many peat lakes that are being preserved for Wild Life purposes. The National Wetland Trust engaged BCD Group to monitor the construction of a 2.0m high pest proof fence around the perimeter of the southern Lake. Xcluder Pest Proof fencing was awarded this contract to complete the 1400m perimeter fence which incorporates a 70m boardwalk with a fish passage as well as security access gates.

The fence consists of driven timber posts at 2.0m centres with a colorsteel proof hood and a fence mesh 25mmx6mm stainless steel coated in an epoxy resin, coloured Karaka Green. Once complete this is the start of a development for a visitors centre allowing for the lake area to become a high quality conservation experience site allowing the public to visit & increase awareness about wetlands. This fencing project was completed  in June 2013.
